Our Marketing Internship is a hands‑on opportunity for a curious, motivated student to gain real‑world experience across brand, content, digital marketing, events, and analytics. Interns work closely with our marketing team to support day‑to‑day execution while learning how marketing supports business growth at a people-first community bank.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a curious, proactive, detail‑oriented student who brings strong communication skills and an interest in storytelling. Ideal candidates may have the following:
- Pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field (junior or sophomore preferred)
- Strong writing skills and interest in content creation
- Organized and detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Creative thinker with an interest in branding, design, and visual consistency
- Comfort learning new tools (WordPress, Canva, Trello, Microsoft Office, Mailchimp)
- Interest in social media, digital engagement, and analytics
- Self‑motivated, solution-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working in an in‑office environment
- Interest in community banking, small businesses, and/or mission‑driven organizations
What You’ll Do
Brand & Creative
- Understand and champion BankCherokee’s brand identity, positioning, and messaging
- Update existing assets and format new marketing collateral to ensure brand consistency
- Own, develop, and execute special brand projects (e.g., BankCherokee brand evolution)
- Contribute ideas for swag and other promotional materials
Social, Content & Email
- Contribute content ideas and support writing, review, and publishing of blog posts and other content
- Own the development, design, and publishing of BankCherokee social media posts
- Monitor engagement to identify high‑performing content (informing future ideation and improvements)
- Assist with client-facing communications and campaigns using Mailchimp
Website
- Update website content using WordPress
- Standardize and update team website bios
- Write SEO metadata (e.g., titles, descriptions, alt text) to support website optimization
Events & Community
- Assist with planning and coordination of internal and client‑facing events
- Attend relevant industry events (e.g., MBA Intern Day)
Analytics & Research
- Support marketing dashboard updates and campaign reporting
- Conduct competitive and industry research to inform BankCherokee’s marketing strategy
Internal Support
- Help organize marketing resources on SharePoint
- Coordinate gift baskets, raffle items, and promotional materials
Details
20-30 hours per week, on‑site at the Smith Avenue Branch. Temporary employment status. Supervisor is Mackenzie Goranson, Marketing Manager. Schedule expectations to be developed with Mackenzie. Requires flexible availability during general bank hours and/or after‑hour events, meetings, or project work.
Responsibilities include those outlined in the above task details and as assigned from Mackenzie or Scott Beuning (Chief Strategy Officer), with flexibility to assist other teams with administrative support.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $20.00 per hour, effective on start date.
- Benefits are limited due to temporary employment status.
- BankCherokee’s 401(k) Savings Plan is available to all employees upon hire. We support saving for the future and provide matching funds of 50% up to the first 10% you invest.
- Minnesota’s Earned Sick and Safe Time benefits provide 1 hour made available for each 30 hours worked.
Start Date: June 1, 2026 through late August (school start).
