MLK Day: “A day on, not a day off.”
And a leg up for our community.
Although MLK Day is a federal holiday, BankCherokee staff reports to work anyway, to recap our previous year’s successes, and to discuss this year’s mission.
But for us, there’s more to this holiday than a review of past performance and future goals. Why? MLK Day is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service—“a day on, not a day off.” So, in the tradition of preceding years, we’re reserving the majority of our day to buoy our community.
This year, BankCherokee’s “day on” will benefit SimonSaysGive, a kid-founded and kid-operated non-profit that is developing the next generation of unstoppable leaders…and that is on track to impacting 2 million children by 2022. To learn more, visit https://www.simonsaysgive.org
Through our staff, we hope that SimonSaysGive will benefit as richly as the other fantastic non-profits with whom we’ve joined forces over the years. Those organizations include:
- The Sheridan Story
- Feed My Starving Children
- Second Harvest Heartland
- Ralph Reeder Food Shelf
- Neighborhood House
- Keystone Community Services
- Joseph’s Coat
We are proud of BankCherokee’s civic commitment. To continue that tradition, there’s no better day to do that than on a day honoring one of the greatest civil rights leaders in history
