March is Food Drive Month at BankCherokee
Food insecurity continues to affect far too many of our neighbors across the Twin Cities. Demand at Minnesota food shelves has continued to grow in recent years, stretching the resources of both families and the local organizations working to support them.
Showing up together can make a meaningful difference. That’s why, throughout March, BankCherokee is proud to support Neighborhood House, Keystone Community Services, and the Vadnais Heights Food Shelf. These trusted local organizations work every day to ensure individuals and families have access to nutritious, culturally relevant food—serving people from many backgrounds with dignity and care.
How you can help
Now through March 31, we’re collecting:
- Non‑perishable food items
- Monetary donations (which often provide the greatest impact)
Donations can be dropped off at any BankCherokee branch. From there, all food and financial contributions will be delivered directly to our partner food shelves.
What’s needed most
Each organization shared that monetary donations stretch the furthest, thanks to purchasing partnerships that allow them to buy more food with each dollar. If you prefer to donate items, the following are among the most needed:
Pantry staples
- Canned proteins (meats and beans)
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Cereal
- Rice and dry beans
- Peanut butter
- Pasta and quick‑to‑prepare meals
- Shelf‑stable milk
Household and hygiene essentials
- Diapers and wipes
- Toilet paper
- Feminine hygiene products
- Laundry detergent
- Soap, shampoo, and toothpaste
These everyday items help food shelves support the whole household—not just the pantry.
Thank you for showing up
The need is significant—but so is the impact of neighbors helping neighbors. Whether you donate food, funds, or help spread the word, your support helps ease the burden for local families facing food insecurity.
Thank you for supporting the community we’re proud to serve.
